I first saw this Ron Mueck sculpture when I was maybe 15, in the basement gallery of the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, D.C. My parents met in D.C, when they were both getting their graduate degrees. I think they missed it, because at least several times a year they would take my brother and I there for little day-trips.

Two things really stuck with me from all the museums down there. One was the fantastic stuffed elephant at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, and the other was this giant silicone naked bald fat man.
